On Development in Music
Part of my reason for starting a blog is to get me writing. Growing up in a world increasingly inundated by 140 chrctr smmries and mass-marketed yet fleeting spectacle, I’ve been feeling a bit like a Neandertal lately because I just can’t seem to get my anachronistic value system on the bandwagon (except, I suppose, to start this blog.) Maybe the Whirling Dervish of Progress will sweep me up in its hallucinogenic embrace eventually, but I can’t help but wonder if our ever increasing use of rapid-fire text-based communication is actually harmful to the bedrock of our understanding – our literacy.
